Rigs
-
Feathers / Sabiki 9/10
Use small sabikis (size 8–12). Jig or slow retrieve under piers/harbours at dusk, especially near lights. A 1–2 oz lead helps keep tension and avoid tangles with shoaling sardines.
-
Float (Sliding) 8.2/10
Slide float lets you set shallow depths where sardines cruise. Fish tiny slivers of fish or a micro-sabiki below the float around harbour lights and calm rock marks.
-
Bombarda (Casting Float) 7.6/10
Casts micro flies or size 10–14 sabiki to distant surface shoals from beaches or breakwaters. Slow retrieve keeps presentations in the top few metres.
-
Dropshot 7.2/10
Present a tiny soft plastic or fly at fixed mid-water height; twitch under pier lights. Excellent control in slack to moderate tide without spooking shoals.
-
Split Shot Rig 6.8/10
Ultra-light LRF with a small hook and tiny fish sliver or fly. Minimal weight keeps it high in the water column; ideal for harbour walls and calm inner estuaries.
