Ranked by how strongly pouting show at each mark. The chip on the right is today's live fish forecast.
Common after dark from the beach into slightly deeper water; small squid, rag or mackerel strip on size 1–2 hooks.
Common in colder months; small hooks with rag/mussel in cleaner pockets between rocks.
Mixed ground near the rocks in autumn/winter; small strips of mackerel or worm on a paternoster.
Taken near rougher ground/harbour edge on lug/squid; can be nuisance bites—scale hook size to target.
Can show in colder months over mixed ground; small fish/squid baits on 2-hook rigs, good for steady bites when present.
Small baits on 1/0–2/0 hooks in deeper water on the ebb; good fallback species when conditions are coloured.
Often under the wall and in the inner channel; bits of squid or worm on size 2–1/0 hooks.
Autumn/winter in deeper water; small squid/fish strips on size 1–2 hooks, keep bait moving to avoid crabs.
Autumn/winter in mixed ground; small baits on multi-hook paternosters work in moderate tide.
Can show on rougher nights; fish small strips of squid/mackerel on 1/0–2/0 hooks over mixed ground.
Winter/spring on smaller hooks with rag or mackerel strip; fish into the tide near the wall end for cleaner ground.
Small to medium baits (rag/mackerel strip) on a 2-hook paternoster can pick them up in deeper water.
Occasional in deeper holes; small strips of mackerel or rag on short snoods—often a by-catch while bassing.
Evenings/nights when tides are running; small fish baits on 1/0–2/0 over mixed ground.
Can show after dark near broken ground; small hooks with worm or squid, keep baits tight to the bottom.
