Ranked by how strongly flounder show at each mark. The chip on the right is today's live fish forecast.
Works around low water where the channel meets the sea; rag/lug or small crab on a 1–2 hook flapper; minimal lead if the run allows.
Reliable in cooler months; fish worm baits (rag/lug) on the mud/sand flats and along the main channel run.
Close in over sand; peeler crab, rag or maddies; fish the first of the flood and into slack high water.
Common near the river influence; peeler crab or rag on a running ledger; often better on smaller tides and coloured water.
Common in the estuary run; rag/lug or crab; cast slightly uptide and let it settle into the channel edge.
Catches close in over sand/mud inside/near the mouth; rag/lug on light leads when the tide eases.
On the sand in calmer conditions; ragworm or small crab. Works well on mid-tide with lighter leads.
Can show in the shallows and near any freshwater seepage; rag/lug on simple rigs works best.
Shows around gullies/streamy areas; rag/lug on a running ledger, or a small flapper when there’s colour in the water.
Inside on slower flow, especially autumn/winter; ragworm or small lug baits on a simple running rig.
Often close in; ragworm or lug on a flowing trace, especially where there’s a slight run or stirred-up water.
Can show in channels and near the outflow areas after rain; rag/lug or small crab baits, especially dusk.
Takes rag, lug and small crab; present close in on the inner side during calmer spells. Good target in cooler months.
Around gullies and mixed ground, especially with a bit of surf; rag or lug on a flowing trace; can be close in.
More likely near any freshwater influence after rain; worm baits and shorter casts can score.
Occasional on nearby mixed sand; rag/lug baits, lighter leads when conditions allow.
