6.3· Beach · Essex
The Naze is an exposed sand-and-shingle shore beneath the distinctive, actively eroding clay cliffs north of Walton-on-the-Naze. Access is mainly by walking the beach or coastal paths from Walton and the Naze visitor area; it fishes best around the flooding tide for flatfish, bass and rays, with winter whiting and occasional cod from deeper water. Keep well clear of the cliff base, check the tide carefully and expect a walk to find a clear, fishable section.
