It can produce enjoyable mixed fishing, particularly after dark and in the autumn and winter run of fish, but it is exposed to wind, sea state and shifting sandbanks.

Facilities should be treated as those of the wider Caister-on-Sea area rather than amenities on the beach itself. Take the essentials with you and avoid relying on a nearby toilet, tackle outlet or food stop being open at the time of your session.

• Parking may be available in the surrounding area, but spaces, payment arrangements and restrictions should be checked on arrival.
• Shops, food outlets, public toilets and other services are more likely to be found in nearby settled areas than at the fishing spot itself.

The biggest local advantage is not a secret cast but choosing the right piece of beach on the day. Spend time looking at the water and be willing to move along the sand rather than fishing an unproductive, featureless-looking patch for hours.
