• The mark is generally fished from accessible sections of the seawall, shore and waterside frontage around Bradwell Waterside, on the Blackwater estuary side of the Dengie Peninsula.
• It is principally an estuary venue: shelter can make it fishable when more exposed Essex beaches are uncomfortable, although the water is often coloured and shallow.

• Do not walk onto unfamiliar mudflats, attempt shortcuts across creeks or fish from a position that may be cut off by the tide.
• Stay on firm, established banks and paths, and check the tide forecast before leaving the car; allow plenty of time to pack up and return.
• Seawall slopes, grass, clay and timbered edges can be slippery, especially after rain, frost or a high tide. Stout waterproof footwear is preferable to trainers.
