6.4· Beach · Essex
East Beach is a broad, gently shelving sand-and-shingle shore on the outer Thames estuary, with straightforward access from the seafront parking and short walks onto the beach. It is a tide-dependent, open-water mark: the flooding tide and high water are most productive for bass, flatfish, rays and summer smoothhounds, while autumn and winter bring whiting and the chance of cod.
