6.5· Rocks · North Yorkshire
Saltwick Bay is a dramatic, tide-dependent rocky mark east of Whitby, reached on foot from the Saltwick Bay holiday-park area and coastal paths, with a steep descent and uneven scars rather than easy beach fishing. The gullies, kelp and rough ground suit close-range baits and lures, producing codling in colder months and pollack, wrasse and mackerel through the warmer season; fish only on a safe falling or low tide and allow plenty of time to get back.
