The paved promenade is among the more accessible styles of shore mark, but it remains a tidal waterfront with slippery edges, deep soft mud and regular public traffic. Fish from a stable position well back from the edge and plan the session around the tide rather than treating the promenade as risk-free.

• Wear footwear with good grip: weed, algae, wet concrete and mud can be exceptionally slippery.
• Never walk onto exposed estuary mudflats; soft mud, channels and a fast incoming tide can create serious danger.
• Keep rods, tackle boxes and bait bags tidy and out of the main pedestrian route.
• Use a headtorch after dark, but avoid shining lights into homes, boats or other promenade users.

• The level surface can suit anglers with limited mobility, although kerbs, wall height, parking distance and the availability of safe space vary by location and tide.
