6.5· Breakwater · North Yorkshire
Staithes South Wall is the harbour’s south breakwater, reached on foot from village parking and the harbour front, with a straightforward wall-top stance but rough ground and spray around its seaward end. It is a compact, tide-influenced rock-edge mark that fishes best for cod and coalfish in autumn and winter, with pollack, mackerel and wrasse through the warmer months; avoid it in strong easterly swell or when waves are washing the wall.
